Since 2005, Brand South Australia have been recognising exceptional South Australian businesses through their 'Fast Movers' program. The initiative is designed to not only bring attention to South Australia's fastest moving businesses in terms of overall growth, but also to aim the spotlight at the innovation these small to medium business enterprises offer the South Australian market.
In conjunction with partners BDO South Australia, Brand SA last week hosted their 12th year of the coveted event at the prestigious William Magarey room, situated at the Adelaide Oval.
The breakfast, held on Friday morning of the 25th of May, celebrated the valuable contributions these fast moving business have made to the South Australian economy.
It was with great pride that Yates Electrical Services - nominated as one of the top 25, attended Friday morning's breakfast. With well over 1,000 South Australian businesses submitted, we consider ourselves extremely humbled to even be seated amongst the top 25 in the state.
Our journey since the launch of our 180kW prototype site based in Renmark, South Australia has been nothing short of remarkable, involving no shortage of creative thinking as we overcame the steep learning curve of an industry in which we were - and still are, continually learning about.
"A lot of growers sold off their entitlements during the drought, effectively rendering their farming land useless, so there was a real opportunity to look at ways that we could reactivate that land, hence how Redmud was born." said Mark Yates, the director of Yates Electrical Services.
Redmud Green Energy, the project which has seen Yates Electrical Services develop a distributed network of large scale solar farms across the Riverland region, has been enthusiastically embraced by the local community, resulting in a very positive result for the small Paringa based business.
"I think a testament to the committment Yates Electrical Services has to working with land-owners in diversifying their business practices is evidenced by how successful our past projects have been." said Patrick Broughton, Yates Electrical Services' marketing and communications manger, "When we completed our test site in Renmark, we set a goal to develop twenty-two solar farms in the Riverland by the end of 2017, and now, halfway through 2018, we currently have twice that amount either in planning, under construction or generating."
"We're all winners," said Mr Yates on being nominated in the top 25 fastest growing businesses for 2018, "but I think initiatives like this really demonstrate just how passionate South Australian businesses are, and that's something we should all be proud of."
Yates Electrical Services would like to thank the organisers of Fast Movers 2018, Brand South Australia, BDO South Australia and all the sponsors and media partners. And we would also like to thank all the other businesses who were recognised as South Australia’s most innovative and fastest developing businesses for 2018. It is great to see, and be recognised as a part of the wonderful products and services South Australians offer.
